Entry 48: New Toys

Entry 48: New Toys

It's not even Christmas and I already got myself a new toy!

Well, actually, I have invested into a new laptop that's outfitted with the Adobe suite, so I'm practicing with Photoshop. At work I have practiced with Photoshop for almost two years, but I was not prepared for my own Photoshop projects.

Firstly, I usually edit portraits and restore old photographs, which requires a different skill set within the program. For my own projects, however, I have no clue how to "paint" with a tablet or edit comic-book panels. So there's a learning curve to this program that I've been using for years...

The other perk of this new laptop is that it's shiny and fast. I have a 3D short film in the works, so I am fully confident in this machine's capabilities to render faster and more efficiently. Below is a sneak peak of some concept art from the storyboards:

Haha, I just started yesterday, so this is merely a sample of my blending technique with a pen-tablet. It's supposed to be flakes of ash, so I have a lot of practicing to do...

I'm working with a small group of people; each of us are independently work on our own project while helping each other. While I "say" that I'm working on a new project, I actually have invested several weeks in the story and narrative aspects of the short film, so there will be better concept art when it gets produced, most likely within a few weeks.

Once I've figured out my timing and effectiveness, I'll produce a timeline of events for anyone to follow or subscribe to. Until then, see you later!
