Entry 37: School Pride
In hindsight, school pride only occurs when the establishment you studied at rewards you with a greater sense of knowledge and/or accomplishment. At least, that's how I feel.
I graduated from a high school that had a student body of 400, and a college that had around 1,200 students. Compared to other nearby schools, we were relatively small. At athletic events, it was always humorous to witness the student fans trying to cheer louder than the bigger schools.
In spite of our schools' small sizes, the students had an immense amount of spirit. Some would say that we had David's amount of spirit when facing Goliath. Even when our spirits were overpowered by larger entities, we never gave up.
After graduating from college, I have a lingering sense of pride whenever I see the academic buildings that empower the people of tomorrow. Today I stopped by my college and memories came rushing back as I entered the grand structure that is the campus library.
In an effort to capture that reminiscent moment and retell it to others, I started a project in Minecraft that would consist of a virtual replica of the college.
My first and for most goal with this little undertaking is to create a sense of immersion in an institution that held so many memories in a life-changing time of my life. The college was my home while I was attending, and it helped carve the next steps of my career.
Ultimately, this project is purely for personal enjoyment, but I would also like to outreach to the college administration and possibly submit this as a virtual tour that was created by a spirited alumni.
