Entry 64: Alternate Reality

Entry 64: Alternate Reality

Get it? This Entry is #64, which is a video game reference to the Nintendo 64!

Anyways, this week I have been working with my younger brother in Minecraft to build a creative world together. He named the world Tallon IV, after the Metroid series. It was a year or two since I've played Minecraft, so the updates were all new to me and playing this time was like playing for the first time again.

Here is a picture of our world map:

So far we've had many adventures and found many sights. We saw giant underground ravines, an island comprised of entirely mushrooms, vast plains filled with horses, a dense (and annoying) jungle, and several villages inhabited by A.I. people.

My brother found a small little island and created his base of operations there. I settled near the Horse Plains and built a farm full of cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, horses, and a donkey. My farm also has fields of wheat, carrots, potatoes, and sugar canes. Soon I'll make room for cactus, cocoa beans, pumpkin, and watermelon.

Our current project is to connect all settlements via an underground railroad, which I am overseeing. My brother was helpful and more knowledgeable when it came to building an underwater tunnel, which took an hour to fabricate, while the rest of the tunnels took only two hours to make.

My brother is an adventurer/conquerer, so his play-style is reflected by this. He usually explores dangerous places and claims to be a vanquisher of monsters, although they vanquish him on a regular bases.

I, on the other hand, am a survivalist/builder, so I create a network of buildings and tunnels to unite everyone. I also maintain the farm so no one starves to death.

With our combined forces, my brother and I work together to explore our little world while preserving the unique state it is in.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that I made a physical copy of our map and pinned it to a cork board. Every time we find a dungeon or point of interest, we place a map push pin on the map.
