Entry 106: Quest Failed

Entry 106: Quest Failed

Today is my day off from work, so I revisited my Minecraft world in an effort to find the elusive Jungle Biome, which houses the massive jungle trees, ocelots (cats), and cocoa beans for cookies.

In my previous efforts to find this exotic land, I traveled a great distance in all four cardinal directions, but with no luck. So today, I embarked on a grand quest to find a Jungle Biome, almost to the scale of walking to Mordor. I hopped on my trusted steed, Arcadia, whom is know for being the fastest horse and worst jumper. Setting my course due west, I rode into the sunset (during the morning, because traveling at night is idiotic).

During my adventure, I crossed the seemingly endless desert, traversed the plateau-riddled Mesa Biome (which is more rare than the Jungle Biome), swam across two bodies of water, found four different villages, explored two desert temples, bypassed several massive horse plains, and through the dangerous swamps.

But I never found the Jungle Biome.

I spent about two hours traveling west, by horse, so I had a long way to travel back in defeat. Before I packed my gear for retuning, I began defending a village from a zombie attack. With Arcadia, I was holding off the invasion with gusto, but I miscalculated my attacks on a Creeper (an explosive monster), and to my demise it blew up, causing Arcadia to wail its final breath as it died.

I barely survived the attack, with only two hearts out of ten left, but before I could mourn the loss of my beloved horse, a skeleton archer shot me in the face, killing me in a blink of an eye.

We were both dead, and to make matters worse, all of my loot was now laying on the ground, waiting to despawn. I had enchanted bows, pickaxes, swords, and other tools and treasures that were about to be lost in time, but thankfully I left a trail of torches along the way to the village.

As I respawned, I faced west again and raced to my loot. But now I was with no horse, so now I spent another few hours retracing my steps to find my stuff. I eventually found it all in the crater that Arcadia died in...

At this point I didn't want to return home with nothing, so I passed by the horse plains and lassoed a few donkeys, which I do not have in my farm. But to make things matters worse, the lassos would periodically fall off if I traveled too far from the donkeys, so I couldn't even lead them on horseback.

I had to travel back on foot, but even slower.

I paused the game several times today, to pick up some kids from school and eat dinner, but as I spent the last few hours pulling the donkeys back to the farm, I had another encounter with a Creeper...

It blew up all five of my donkeys.

Now I quit for the day, with nothing gained expect for a tombstone for Arcadia.
