Entry 153: Build a Better Bed
Last night, before I dosed off, I began thinking about buying a bed frame for my new mattress. I've already looked online at some loft-style bunks with a built-in desk, but I'm not certain on the stability of it. Then I thought about a raised platform with built-in drawers, and then I remembered a story from my college professor building his own bed frame.
Then I began to imagine building my own bed frame, and now I was fully awake.
First, it would be built simply with 2x4 planks. Functionality over aesthetics, for now. Cost may be a factor in the end, as well as building supplies, but the functionality is key. The mattress would sit on a series of drawers, allowing the bed to be couch-height when sitting, but also a storage unit.
Additionally, each drawer unit is separate, allowing for easy cleaning and transportation. Each drawer would have sections, so I could partially pull out a drawer and store smaller things in the front and long-tern items towards the back.
