Entry 111: Video Games for a Living
It's every kid's dream: to play video games for a living. But in most cases, there isn't a reliable method of only playing games and generating revenue. Apart from a few reputable streamers, more work is required to "play" games for a living, but is it possible?
I shot an idea around with my brother about recording our video game sessions and making a YouTube series out of it, primarily because of the way we play. As I explore a new world, my brother commentates over my shoulder and suggest I do all these odd thing, like jump on that turtle, or shoot that bird, or shoot that turtle that I just jumped on. We also play meta games, which is a game within a game. For instance, we'll play tag with tanks, or chicken with jets; completely bypassing the main mission.
But to make this a feasible job, we would need unique editing styles for our videos, like fancy graphics and whatnot. If this idea of ours gained headway for us, then we literally could play games for a living.
We'll test this out soon...
