Entry 125: Would You?
Another theme from my "R Project" is the idea of giving up a part of your humanity to become something more, if not something greater.
The sacrifice, however, comes at a great cost. For one, which part of your humanity are you giving up? Would you regress back to primal instincts, lose your unique thinking abilities, or sedate certain emotions from ever happening?
The flip side is also a gamble; what is there to gain from losing part of your humanity? Primal instincts, super-human senses, olympic strength, invulnerability, or even life after death? Sometimes the rewards are tempting enough to outweigh the negative effects, but how far would you be willing to push that line?
Would you sacrifice emotion to become Superman? At that point would anything matter? Would you have the drive to follow your dreams, or would you care if you were the good guy or bad? What if you wanted immortality, but you had to sacrifice the lives of others to obtain it? Those whom you stole any life from would not live on through you, but you could live out your days to the end of time.
When characters from my "R Project" begin to weigh in on these matters, tension builds and morals are tested. Given the options, would you make these "sacrifices?"
