Entry 164: Incentives
A simple gesture, but this mere motivational factor can turn the tide when applied to a large amount of people, especially in a business. Without going into full details, my job provides small tokens of incentives for those who perform well at their job, on top of the decent wage.
So far, the rewards for these incentives have been lack-lustered, since the budget for these rewards have already been used up for awhile. Currently, the incentive to push oneself further is not worth the extra labor. Why work hard when you can work as slowly beforehand and get paid the same amount?
Additionally, the other special incentive is a hotdog party if the whole team excels beyond a specific threshold by a certain date.
Hooray. Bologna sausages.
Personally, I enjoy working efficiently and finding ways to improve my workflow, so I have inadvertently collected a lot of incentives but unable to "cash-in" them.
