Entry 170: Can I Make a Game?
For the most part, the majority of my nightly dreams are utter nonsense and have no linear storyline; just a series of random events. Once in a while, however, I'll embark on a misadventure that still makes no more sense than the other nights, but the linear story is solid enough for me to recollect in the morning.
Upon collecting those dreams, I began to wonder about their tangibility. How could I share these wild dreams with others? Not that they might find any sense in my subconscious matters, but the delivery could be enjoyable if done right.
So that's when it occurred to me: how feasible would this project be in the form of a video game?
I have the content and narrative, but the most important features include its art style and playability. Pixel art is simple and could easily portray a whimsical narrative in a colorful manner, but the biggest hurdle would be designing a functional game that is enjoyable.As with dreams, I have the liberty of using different gameplay styles to match various dreams, such as flying, racing, and thriller. And there's the matter of coding the game, too.
With simplicity and randomness in my favor, this could easily be a seasonal project that I could add to my portfolio. First step, gameplay design...
