Entry 176: More for Less
A burrito from Taco Bell can cost $1 while their signature crunchy taco costs $1.20. However, the burrito has over twice the calorie count, which, for a thin guy like me, is a win. More bang for my buck. Literally.
When I started working at Amazon, I'd compete against another coworker to see who could scan packages faster. Our rates were mediocre, at best. But it wasn't until after I changed my process that my results were 50% faster, even though I don't quicken my pace.
The idea is much like the Taco Bell dollar: more for your buck.
If I can scan twice as much boxes in the same amount of time as before, without using more energy, then it's a win-win for me and the company, as well as the customer. I challenge people to try this method, but even I doubted its effectiveness before I adopted it.
Because when a crunchy taco has twice the real-estate on the menu, it's hard see the better deal right beneath in front of you.
Food for thought...
