LEGO Iceberg: Nomad-Class Outpost
This LEGO creation was built to be large yet portable for my younger siblings, so a foldable outpost was the solution. Nicknamed for its ability to be relocated with relative ease, the Iceberg outpost can condense itself into a cube-like shape and be airlifted by a dropship to any desired location. Upon arrival, the outpost will level itself on the terrain, then proceed to expand into the necessary shape for optimal defense and/or strategy. The outpost can be designated as a surveillance outlook or a crucial rally point for troops and supplies to be airdropped into.
When this LEGO base is compacted, the square form allows it to be stored away and transported easily. The hinge that holds it together is a simple one-piece stud.
Once the base opens up, it is configurable to different shapes and forms depending on terrain and defense strategies.
Here are some interior shots, which includes control panels, maintenance panel, fire extinguisher, tool set, piston generator, gate control, spot light, security camera, and communication beacons.
This base also has a personal hover-transport, which is foldable.
The troopers were collected over several Star Wars sets, and the base is a conglomeration of pieces, but the essential hinges came from a LEGO Alpha Team: Blizzard Blaster set:
